What is CVE-2017-17416?

This vulnerability permits unauthorized remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on installations of Quest NetVault Backup 11.3.0.12. It arises from improper handling of the NVBUPhaseStatus GetPlugins method requests, where the system fails to sufficiently validate a user-supplied string before using it in SQL queries. As a result, an attacker can exploit this flaw to execute malicious code within the context of the underlying database, compromising the security and integrity of the system.
