What is CVE-2017-17417?

This vulnerability permits remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on systems running a specific version of Quest NetVault Backup due to improper validation of user-supplied strings in NVBUPhaseStatus Acknowledge method requests. The flaw arises when these strings are used to construct SQL queries without adequate safeguards, allowing an attacker to manipulate the underlying database and execute code remotely without requiring authentication.
