What is CVE-2017-17421?

A security vulnerability exists in Quest NetVault Backup 11.3.0.12 which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. This flaw arises from improper validation of user-supplied strings in the NVBUSelectionSet Get method requests. By leveraging this issue, an attacker can manipulate SQL queries, enabling unauthorized actions in the context of the affected database. Importantly, no authentication is necessary to exploit this vulnerability, significantly increasing the risk for affected installations.
