What is CVE-2017-17423?
A vulnerability exists in the Quest NetVault Backup that allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The flaw is identified in how the NVBUBackupSegment Get method processes requests, lacking necessary validation for user-supplied strings. This oversight can lead to the crafting of malicious SQL queries that, when executed, could compromise the security of the underlying database. Authentication is not needed to exploit this vulnerability, making vulnerable installations particularly susceptible to attacks.
