What is CVE-2017-17672?

In vBulletin versions up to 5.3.x, an unauthenticated deserialization vulnerability exists due to improper handling of PHP's unserialize() function in the vB_Library_Template's cacheTemplates() method. This flaw can be exploited via the publicly accessible ajax/api/template/cacheTemplates endpoint, specifically through the templateidlist parameter. Exploitation may lead to arbitrary file deletion and, in certain situations, can enable remote code execution, posing significant risks for affected installations.
