What is CVE-2017-20288?

QCubed versions 2.2.0 through 3.1.1 are susceptible to a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability, where attackers can exploit the installation_path parameter. By crafting GET requests aimed at /assets/php/_devtools/installer/step_2.php with malicious input, attackers are able to inject unescaped scripts that execute JavaScript in the context of the victim's browser. This could potentially lead to unauthorized actions being taken on behalf of the user or theft of sensitive information.

Affected Version(s)

QCubed 2.2.0 <= 3.1.1

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
