What is CVE-2017-2872?

A security issue has been identified in the recovery procedure of the Foscam C1 Indoor HD Camera. The vulnerability arises from insufficient security checks during the firmware upgrading process. An attacker can exploit this flaw by sending a specially crafted HTTP request that initiates a firmware upgrade using a malicious image. When the firmware upgrade is executed, binaries and shell command arguments contained in the image run with elevated privileges, potentially compromising the device's integrity and security.
