Stack Overflow Vulnerability in Cisco IOx on 800 Series Routers
CVE-2017-3853
9.8CRITICAL
Summary
A vulnerability exists in the Data-in-Motion (DMo) process of Cisco IOx, which may permit unauthenticated remote attackers to exploit insufficient bounds checking. By sending specially crafted packets to the DMo process, attackers can cause a stack overflow that potentially leads to remote code execution with root privileges on the virtual instance. This vulnerability is limited to the scope of the virtual instance itself, meaning it does not affect the host router running Cisco IOx.
