What is CVE-2017-5223?

An issue found in PHPMailer allows local file inclusion through the msgHTML method, which converts relative image URLs into email attachments. If a user provides an unfiltered HTML document without a specified base directory, it defaults to /, leading to the exploitation of local file paths. This vulnerability poses significant risks as it enables potential attackers to manipulate server-side files if they can control the HTML content.
