Local Privilege Escalation in Honeywell Intermec Industrial Printers
CVE-2017-5671
8.8HIGH
What is CVE-2017-5671?
Honeywell Intermec PM23, PM42, PM43, PC23, PC43, PD43, and PC42 industrial printers prior to version 10.11.013310 and 10.12.x versions prior to 10.12.013309 contain a vulnerability where the /usr/bin/lua script is installed with setuid permissions to the itadmin account. This misconfiguration allows local users to perform a BusyBox jailbreak attack, enabling them to gain root privileges by manipulating the /etc/shadow file. Such access could lead to unauthorized control over the printer's operations and data.
