Summary
A vulnerability exists in the driver hitmanpro37.sys of Sophos SurfRight HitmanPro, prior to version 3.7.20 Build 286, that allows local users to exploit a kernel pool overflow. By sending a specifically crafted IOCTL call, unauthorized users may gain elevated privileges, enabling them to potentially execute arbitrary code in the context of the operating system kernel. This issue is particularly serious as it provides a pathway for attackers to bypass standard security controls.
