What is CVE-2017-7246?
The vulnerability in the pcre32_copy_substring function within pcre_get.c of libpcre1 in PCRE 8.40 leads to a stack-based buffer overflow. This issue can be exploited by remote attackers through specially crafted files, potentially resulting in a denial of service due to a WRITE operation of size 268. As a result, systems relying on this version of PCRE may experience unexpected behaviors or crashes.
