What is CVE-2017-9917?

A vulnerability in IrfanView version 4.44 (32bit) with TOOLS Plugin 4.50 can lead to denial of service conditions when processing a specially crafted file. This issue may allow attackers to manipulate the application, resulting in it becoming unresponsive. The vulnerability is linked to how data from a faulting address is utilized as one or more arguments in subsequent function calls, which can cause instability in the application.
