What is CVE-2018-1095?

The ext4_xattr_check_entries function in the Linux kernel, specifically within fs/ext4/xattr.c, has a flaw in its validation process for extended attributes (xattr) sizes. This vulnerability can lead to the misinterpretation of a size as an error code. Consequently, attackers can exploit this issue using specially crafted ext4 images to trigger a denial of service, resulting in a NULL pointer dereference that crashes the system.
