Directory Traversal Vulnerability in Quest KACE System Management Virtual Appliance
CVE-2018-11141
9.8CRITICAL
What is CVE-2018-11141?
A vulnerability exists in the Quest KACE System Management Virtual Appliance 8.0.318 due to improper validation of the 'IMAGES_JSON' and 'attachments_to_remove[]' parameters within the '/adminui/advisory.php' script. This allows an attacker to exploit these parameters to traverse directories, leading to unauthorized file writes and deletions in any directory where the 'www' user has write permissions. Such a flaw may enable malicious actors to manipulate critical files, posing significant risks to system integrity and data security.
