What is CVE-2018-1124?

An integer overflow vulnerability exists in Procps-ng prior to version 3.3.15, specifically within the file2strvec function. This security flaw can be exploited by local attackers who create entries in procfs by initiating processes. Successful exploitation may result in a heap corruption, potentially allowing these attackers to execute arbitrary code within proc utilities that are executed by other users, or even cause system crashes.
