What is CVE-2018-1160?

The Netatalk file server application contains an out of bounds write vulnerability that is triggered by insufficient input validation in the dsi_opensess.c file. An attacker can exploit this flaw by sending specially crafted data, allowing them to execute arbitrary code on the affected system. This vulnerability poses a severe risk as it permits unauthenticated remote access, potentially leading to significant system compromise. Netatalk users are urged to upgrade to version 3.1.12 or later to mitigate this risk.
