What is CVE-2018-1161?

A vulnerability in Quest NetVault Backup allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on unpatched installations. The flaw arises in the nvwsworker.exe component, particularly during the processing of multipart request boundary headers. The software fails to validate the length of user-supplied data adequately before transferring it into a stack-based buffer. This oversight enables an attacker to execute malicious code with SYSTEM privileges, providing full control over the affected system.
