What is CVE-2018-1217?

The Avamar Installation Manager in Dell EMC Avamar Server and Integrated Data Protection Appliance suffers from a missing access control vulnerability. This flaw permits remote unauthenticated attackers to exploit Local Download Service (LDLS) credentials, potentially granting them access to change or read sensitive configuration data. An attacker could manipulate the LDLS settings, leading to failed connections to Dell EMC Online Support. Furthermore, with access to valid credentials, an attacker could impersonate authorized services, exposing sensitive information and potentially leading to further compromises.
