Denial of Service Vulnerability in Technicolor TG588V V2 Devices
CVE-2018-16310
What is CVE-2018-16310?
The Technicolor TG588V V2 devices are susceptible to remote denial of service attacks through a technique known as MAC flooding. By overwhelming the device with a barrage of random MAC addresses, attackers can disrupt normal network operations, leading to significant service interruptions. Although Technicolor refutes claims that this behavior constitutes a vulnerability, it has been shown that under such attacks, Wi-Fi traffic may either slow down or halt entirely. It is critical for users of these devices to be aware of this risk and to implement appropriate mitigations to safeguard their networks.
