What is CVE-2018-17153?

The Western Digital My Cloud device, prior to version 2.30.196, is susceptible to an authentication bypass flaw. This vulnerability enables an unauthenticated attacker to gain unauthorized administrative access by exploiting the network_mgr.cgi CGI module. When the attacker sends a specially crafted HTTP request with the parameter 'flag' set to '1', it initiates an admin session associated with the IP address of the requestor, bypassing the need for password authentication. Once this session is established, the attacker can perform operations typically restricted to admin users, compromising the integrity and security of the device.
