What is CVE-2018-17937?
The gpsd and microjson software, utilized in various open-source applications, contain a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability. This flaw arises in versions 2.90 to 3.17 for gpsd and 1.0 to 1.3 for microjson, which may allow remote attackers to exploit the vulnerability by sending specially crafted JSON inputs via traffic on Port 2947/TCP. Successful exploitation could enable attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable embedded platforms, posing significant security risks.
