Summary

Certain D-Link router models are susceptible to command injection due to inadequate validation of input parameters in the SetAccessPointMode function. Specifically, the IsAccessPoint parameter can be manipulated, allowing an attacker to inject shell commands into the system. This can lead to unauthorized access and control over the device, as shell metacharacters may be included within an XML message targeting the vulnerable endpoint.

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
