Out of Bounds Read Vulnerability in BusyBox DHCP Components
CVE-2018-20679
7.5HIGH
What is CVE-2018-20679?
A vulnerability in BusyBox prior to version 1.30.0 enables remote attackers to exploit an out of bounds read in the DHCP components (used by the DHCP server, client, and relay). By sending a specially crafted DHCP message, attackers can potentially leak sensitive data from the stack. The issue stems from insufficient verification in the function udhcp_get_option(), where it fails to ensure that 4-byte options are correctly validated before access.
