What is CVE-2018-25328?

VX Search version 10.6.18 is susceptible to a local buffer overflow vulnerability that enables an attacker to overwrite the instruction pointer. By providing an oversized string in the directory field, attackers can craft an input file containing 271 bytes of junk data followed by a tailored return address. This allows for the execution of arbitrary code with the same privileges as the vulnerable application, posing a significant risk to the integrity of the system.
