Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities in CFITSIO Library Affecting Multiple Products
CVE-2018-3847
8.8HIGH
What is CVE-2018-3847?
The CFITSIO library version 3.42 contains multiple exploitable buffer overflow vulnerabilities in its image parsing functionality. These vulnerabilities allow specially crafted FIT images to be processed in such a way that it can lead to stack-based buffer overflows, potentially overwriting arbitrary memory. This scenario poses a risk where an attacker can exploit these weaknesses to achieve unauthorized code execution by delivering a malicious FIT image.
