What is CVE-2018-5249?

A cross-site scripting vulnerability exists in Shaarli prior to version 0.8.5 and in the 0.9.x versions before 0.9.3. This flaw allows remote attackers to inject and execute arbitrary code through the username field in the login form. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by crafting malicious payloads that get executed in the context of users accessing the affected platform, potentially compromising user accounts and sensitive data.
