What is CVE-2018-6794?
The vulnerability in Suricata allows a malicious server to exploit an HTTP detection bypass flaw. When a server disrupts a standard TCP flow and transmits data before completing the 3-way handshake, this malicious data will be accepted by web clients, such as web browsers or Linux CLI utilities. However, Suricata's IDS signatures fail to recognize this traffic, making it predominantly an issue for HTTP protocol signatures and TCP stream content, while TCP packets are inspected as expected. This can lead to undetected malicious activities, emphasizing the need for immediate updating to ensure robust network security.
