What is CVE-2018-6855?
Sophos SafeGuard Enterprise, Easy, and LAN Crypt are susceptible to a Local Privilege Escalation vulnerability due to improper handling of IOCTL requests. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by crafting an input buffer that manipulates the execution flow, ultimately allowing unauthorized modifications to the SEP_TOKEN_PRIVILEGES structure within the process's token object. By doing so, the attacker can grant themselves SE_DEBUG_NAME privileges, enabling interaction with higher privileged processes running under the SYSTEM account, which poses a significant security risk.
