What is CVE-2018-7164?

A bug in Node.js versions 9.7.0 and later, including 10.x, leads to excessive memory consumption when using the net.Socket object directly as a stream. This issue allows attackers to exploit the vulnerability by sending small chunks of data rapidly, potentially causing a denial of service. The behavior causing the increased memory use has been reverted in subsequent updates to mitigate this risk.
