Denial of Service Risk in Node.js by Buffer Functions
CVE-2018-7167
7.5HIGH
What is CVE-2018-7167?
A known issue in specific versions of Node.js allows an attacker to invoke Buffer.fill() or Buffer.alloc() with certain parameters that could induce a system hang, potentially leading to a Denial of Service. The vulnerability affects Node.js versions 6.x, 8.x, and 9.x, and has been addressed in the latest security updates by modifying these Buffer functions to ensure zero filling is applied instead of resulting in a hang.
