What is CVE-2018-7573?

A flaw in FTPShell Client 6.7 allows a remote FTP server to exploit a buffer overflow by sending a specific sequence of characters in conjunction with an FTP 220 response code. This overflow can cause the application to crash and opens the door for attackers to execute arbitrary code on the victim's machine, posing significant security risks. Attackers may leverage this vulnerability to compromise systems, similarly observed in prior vulnerabilities like CVE-2009-3364 and CVE-2017-6465.
