What is CVE-2018-7998?

A NULL function pointer dereference vulnerability exists in the vips_region_generate function in libvips versions prior to 8.6.3. This vulnerability can be exploited by remote attackers through specially crafted image files, potentially leading to denial of service or other unspecified impacts. The issue arises from a race condition that occurs during a failed delayed load in conjunction with multiple worker threads.
