Summary

Apache CouchDB allows administrative users to configure the database server via the HTTP(S) API. However, a flaw in the validation of configurations provided by administrators can enable a CouchDB admin user to escalate their privileges. This escalation allows them to execute arbitrary code on the operating system level, bypassing existing restrictions and exploiting the database's HTTP API. Users are advised to upgrade to CouchDB versions 1.7.2 or 2.1.2 to mitigate this vulnerability.
