What is CVE-2018-8955?

The installer for BitDefender GravityZone has a flaw that allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. This is made possible by manipulating the filename of an encoded string that the installer uses to acquire installation metadata. Since the attacker can alter the filename while keeping the digital signature intact, they can exploit this vulnerability to potentially run malicious code within the target system.
