Infinite Loop in ISO9660 Parser Affecting libarchive
CVE-2019-1000020
6.5MEDIUM
What is CVE-2019-1000020?
The libarchive library, starting from version v2.8.0, is susceptible to a vulnerability within its ISO9660 parser. The flaw occurs in the 'read_CE()' and 'parse_rockridge()' functions, leading to a potential denial of service condition. By opening a specially crafted ISO9660 file, an attacker can trigger an infinite loop, causing the application to hang indefinitely. This can result in significant disruptions and poses risks to applications relying on libarchive for handling archive files.
