A buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the Squid web proxy, specifically within the handling of esi:when expressions when ESI is enabled. The vulnerability emerges during the evaluation process in the ESIExpression::Evaluate function, which utilizes a fixed stack buffer. Without proper checks to ensure the stack does not overflow when adding new members, an attacker could exploit this flaw to compromise the service, potentially leading to unauthorized access or service disruption.
