What is CVE-2019-13423?

The Search Guard Kibana Plugin, specifically versions prior to 5.6.8-7 and 6.x.y-12, contains a vulnerability that allows an authenticated user to impersonate the kibanaserver user if specific conditions are met. This occurs when Kibana is set up to utilize Single-Sign-On (SSO) authentication with methods like Kerberos, JWT, Proxy, or Client Certificate, while simultaneously using HTTP Basic for the kibanaserver user. This misconfiguration could permit unauthorized access and actions within Kibana’s environment.
