Null Pointer Dereference Vulnerability in RIOT MQTT-SN Implementation
CVE-2019-16754
What is CVE-2019-16754?
The RIOT OS 2019.07 version contains a vulnerability in its MQTT-SN implementation, specifically a NULL pointer dereference. This flaw may enable an attacker to crash network nodes running RIOT OS by spoofing MQTT server responses. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker needs access to the MQTT MsgID of an unfulfilled MQTT message and the ephemeral port used by the MQTT implementation. Furthermore, the attacker's ability to spoof the packet also necessitates knowing the server's IP address, making exploitation contingent on specific network conditions.
