Stack-based Buffer Overflow in Western Digital My Cloud EX2 Ultra Firmware
CVE-2019-18930
8.8HIGH
What is CVE-2019-18930?
The My Cloud EX2 Ultra firmware 2.31.183 from Western Digital is compromised by a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability. This flaw allows remote users, including those accessing via guest accounts, to execute arbitrary code due to a lack of size verification in certain functions (specifically in libscheddl.so). Attackers can exploit this by providing oversized inputs to the f_idx parameter in the download_mgr.cgi script, potentially leading to severe security breaches.
