Buffer Overflow Vulnerability in DNSS Domain Name Search Software by NSAUditor
CVE-2019-25591
What is CVE-2019-25591?
The DNSS Domain Name Search Software version 2.1.8 is susceptible to a buffer overflow flaw in its registration code input field. This vulnerability enables local attackers to exploit the application by submitting an excessively long string, leading to a denial of service. By inserting a registration code that contains 300 repeated characters into the Name/Key field through the Register menu option, attackers can cause the application to crash, disrupting service and potentially exposing underlying system vulnerabilities. This highlights the importance of input validation and robust error handling in software development.
