What is CVE-2019-6442?

An issue was identified in NTPsec prior to version 1.1.3, where an authenticated attacker could exploit a malformed configuration request to write one byte out of bounds in the ntpd service. This vulnerability arises from weaknesses in the config_remotely function in ntp_config.c, as well as flaws in both the parsing and error-handling mechanisms in ntp_parser.tab.c and ntp_parser.y. Addressing this vulnerability is crucial for maintaining the integrity and security of systems utilizing NTPsec.

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
