What is CVE-2019-6444?

A stack-based buffer over-read vulnerability exists in NTPsec versions prior to 1.1.3. The flaw arises in the process_control() function within ntp_control.c, where attacker-controlled data can be improperly processed by the ntohl() function. This can potentially allow an attacker to exploit the vulnerability to read sensitive data from the stack. Rigorous attention to input validation is essential to mitigate such risks in network time protocol systems.

Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)

PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
