Command Injection Vulnerability in D-Link DIR-878 Router
CVE-2019-8312
8.8HIGH
Summary
A significant command injection vulnerability has been identified in D-Link DIR-878 routers running firmware version 1.12A1. The flaw allows an attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the device, potentially gaining a root shell. This vulnerability is exploited through a specially crafted HNAP1 POST request that misuses the SetSysLogSettings API function. Malicious actors can manipulate input fields, such as the IPAddress field, by injecting shell metacharacters, thus compromising the integrity of the device.
