Command Injection Vulnerability in D-Link DIR-878 Router
CVE-2019-8315
8.8HIGH
Summary
A command injection vulnerability was identified in D-Link DIR-878 routers running firmware version 1.12A1. This flaw allows a malicious actor to send a specially crafted /HNAP1 POST request that can execute arbitrary operating system commands. The vulnerable API function, SetIPv4FirewallSettings, mishandles untrusted input, specifically in the SrcIPv4AddressRangeStart field, leading to unauthorized access and potential control over the device. This weakness poses a significant risk for network security, enabling attackers to gain a root shell on the affected devices.
