CVE-2019-9118

9.8CRITICAL

Key Information:

Vendor
Motorola
Vendor
CVE Published:
7 March 2019

Summary

A command injection issue exists in Motorola C1 and M2 devices running firmware versions 1.01 and 1.07. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected devices by sending a specially crafted /HNAP1 POST request. The exploit occurs when the SetNTPServerSettings API function processes untrusted input, which may include malicious shell metacharacters in the system_time_timezone field, leading to unauthorized execution of OS commands and potentially granting the attacker a root shell.
