What is CVE-2020-13778?
rConfig versions 3.9.4 and earlier are susceptible to a serious security flaw that allows authenticated users to execute arbitrary system commands. This is achieved by crafting and sending a malicious GET request to vulnerable endpoints, specifically lib/ajaxHandlers/ajaxAddTemplate.php or lib/ajaxHandlers/ajaxEditTemplate.php. By exploiting this vulnerability, attackers could manipulate the application’s functionality or gain unauthorized access to sensitive system operations, posing a significant threat to the integrity and confidentiality of the affected systems.
Exploit Proof of Concept (PoC)
PoC code is written by security researchers to demonstrate the vulnerability can be exploited. PoC code is also a key component for weaponization which could lead to ransomware.
