What is CVE-2020-13956?

A vulnerability in Apache HttpClient allows attackers to exploit malformed authority components in request URIs. Versions prior to 4.5.13 and 5.0.3 can misinterpret these malformed components when passed as java.net.URI objects, potentially targeting incorrect hosts during request execution. This misinterpretation can lead to unintended consequences, including the possibility of exposing sensitive information or redirecting requests to malicious endpoints.
