What is CVE-2020-22249?
A remote code execution vulnerability exists in phpList 3.5.1 due to insufficient checks on file extensions in uploaded plugin zip files. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by uploading a malicious plugin containing PHP scripts with extensions such as PHP, phtml, or php7. These PHP files get copied directly to the plugins directory without proper validation, enabling unauthorized execution of code on the server. This flaw can lead to severe impacts, including full compromise of the affected server.
