What is CVE-2020-24385?

A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability exists in the Linux emulation layer of MidnightBSD and FreeBSD, affecting versions prior to MidnightBSD 1.2.6 and 1.3 before August 2020, as well as FreeBSD versions before 7. This vulnerability arises due to the uninitialized td->td_emuldata in the kernel, which fails to correctly initialize during binary interaction. If exploited, this can lead to a crash of the running kernel, resulting in potential system instability and a denial of service.
